What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know you and your pet. Your veterinarian will perform a complete nose-to-tail wellness exam, review your pet’s history, discuss diet, behavior and lifestyle, and recommend a personalized plan for vaccines and parasite prevention. If your pet has a health concern, we will take the time to listen and, if needed, run tests in our in-house laboratory for fast answers.
How to Prepare

- Bring or send any previous medical and vaccine records
- Bring a list of current medications, supplements and food
- Bring dogs on a leash and cats and small pets in a secure carrier
- Write down any questions or concerns you would like to discuss
A Low-Stress Welcome
We know new places can be stressful for pets. Our team is trained in low stress handling, and our hospital features separate dog and cat waiting areas, calming pheromone products, warm blankets and treats. Is The Pet Clinic accepting new patients?
Yes. We welcome new clients and their pets from Omaha and the surrounding communities.
What should I bring to my pet’s first appointment?
Please bring prior medical and vaccine records, a list of medications and food, and your completed new client form. Dogs should be leashed and cats and small pets should be in a carrier.
Can I fill out new client paperwork before my visit?
Yes. You can download the new client form from our Online Forms page and bring it with you or send it ahead.
How long does a first visit take?
Most first visits take 30 to 45 minutes so we have time for a complete exam and to answer all of your questions.
Do you need my pet’s previous records?
Yes, previous records help us avoid repeating vaccines or tests and give us a complete picture of your pet’s health.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept common payment methods and also offer financing through Cherry. Call our team with any specific questions.
Do you see exotic pets as new patients?
Yes. We welcome ferrets, pocket pets and reptiles as new patients. We do not treat birds.
